It is less than 2 weeks until we leave, and we will be there for 10 days. I can’t believe it is almost here! We were planning to to go Lautaro, but there was a greater need for us in Melipeuco, so we will be putting up walls for a church there. The church meets at a temporary facility since their permanent building is still being built, and we are helping to get it a little closer. I looked back on my newsletters from the Kallestad’s and I see that the property was purchased within the last 2 years, and Luis and Andrea are the church planters there, so you can be praying for them. Melipeuco is about 90 km east of Temuco at the foot of the Andes mountains as you can see from the pictures of the Conguillío National Park (in Google Chrome, right-click to translate to English) to the north.
We will leave on Thursday, October 25th, 9:30pm and go through San Francisco and Panama, arriving in Santiago on Friday evening. I am very excited that we will spend the night at the house of the missionaries that I have supported all these years, Doug and Shelly Kallestad. On Saturday they will show us some of the places they minister in Santiago before we leave Saturday night for the one hour flight south to Temuco and the drive east to Melipeuco. Melipeuco is 4 hours ahead of Seattle, so it will be an adjustment, but not as much as mission teams going to Africa or Asia. Then will we return to Seattle on Sunday, November 4th, around 7:30pm.
